Melvin Sweeney went into real estate in 1973 after working in
computer programming for NASA and Mary Baldwin College. For the thirty years since then, he has been the Shenandoah Valley's leader in the real estate industry. Melvin has served as president
of the local association of REALTORS and was a state director for the Virginia Association of REALTORS. In 1977, Melvin opened Sweeney & Associates Ltd. REALTORS in Staunton and in 1989,
he opened a second office in Waynesboro. In 1993, Sweeney and Associates joined RE/MAX International and changed its name to RE/MAX Advantage. In so doing, Melvin Sweeney led his firm into
the 21st century, gaining the advantage of strong national advertising and a tie-in to an internationally recognized brand. Always keeping his eye on the future, Melvin has led his offices in
maintaining premier market share in the Shenandoah Valley. Currently, Melvin is the Owner/Broker of RE/MAX Advantage and manager of the Staunton RE/MAX office. In this position, he recruits
and trains some of the most productive real estate agents in the Shenandoah Valley. Melvin is also the President of Sweeney Construction and is active in the local Harley Owners Group and the
Staunton Augusta YMCA.
